Background

Professor Daniel Richards, Ph.D. earned a BA in economics and history at Oberlin College and a MA and PhD in economics from Yale University. His published work includes articles in leading economics journals such as the American Economic Reviewthe Quarterly Journal of Economicsand the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking.He is a co-author of the book, Industrial Organization: Contemporary Theory and Empirical Applications, a leading text on imperfect competition, and also of the just-published book, Advertising and the Marketplace: An Economics Perspective(Edward Elgar, 2021).   His most recent journal article is “Targeted Value-Enhancing Advertising and Price Competition” “in the Review of Industrial Organization(July, 2021). He chaired the Tufts Economics Department from 2012 to 2021. He has taught in the Fletcher School Master of International Business Program since 2006.
