Admissions

At The Fletcher School, we seek students who understand that our world is in a constant state of flux. As laws change, economies shift, and technologies evolve, businesses, too, must adapt. Companies are not only affected by these changes but play a pivotal role in solving the problems and unlocking the opportunities that they present.

Our online Master of Global Business Administration (GBA) is designed for leaders who want to broaden their perspective to achieve outcomes, tackle problems, and effect change in the world. We will help you cultivate your contextual intelligence—that is, an understanding of the economic, legal, cultural, and political contexts that affect business across the world.

Application Deadlines

Our online GBA program has three start dates per year—January, May, and September—so you have the flexibility to choose the one that best suits your schedule. Our first cohort of students will begin classes in May 2019.

For each cohort, we offer a priority application deadline to help you get a head start on planning for your future. The $80 application fee is waived for applications submitted by the priority deadline.

Application Requirements

We seek candidates from a wide range of personal, professional, and academic backgrounds. Because the GBA is an advanced program, we recommend—though do not require—that applicants have six years or more of full-time professional experience.

Applicants are required to submit the following:

  • Online application. Begin your application now.
  • Résumé including your education and professional experience. Be sure to highlight any elements of your background as they relate to international affairs and global business.
  • Transcripts. Transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities must be submitted directly from those schools to the Office of Graduate Admission Processing (even if a degree was not obtained). Many schools issue transcripts electronically, either through their own web services or through vendors. If this option is available, specify that your transcript(s) be sent to appsvcs@globalbusiness.tufts.edu. If your transcripts are being sent by mail, use the following address:

    Application Processing Services
    Tufts University
    Suite 501
    7900 Harkins Road
    Lanham, MD 20706
  • Statement of purpose and essay. In these two essays, we ask you to describe your career goals, how Fletcher can help further them, and how your unique perspective will enhance the Fletcher community. You can also include an optional addendum that provides clarity about your background, such as irregularities in your academic record or work trajectory.
  • Letters of recommendation. Two reference letters are required, but a maximum of four will be considered. These letters should come from people who are most familiar with your professional history and career goals. Academic letters of recommendation are also welcome.
  • Proof of English Proficiency (if applicable). Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are required only for applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned an undergraduate degree (lasting at least three years) or graduate degree (lasting at least two years) in which English was the language of instruction.
  • Application fee. The nonrefundable application fee is $80. The following applicants qualify for a waiver:
    • Those who apply by the priority deadline
    • Active-duty U.S. military personnel and U.S. military veterans
    • Members of specific service programs, including current members of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, Teach for America, Teach for India, Teach for China, McNair Scholars Program, the Truman Scholars Association, the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance, IIPP, PPIA, and the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program
  • Optional GRE or GMAT scores. While we do not require GMAT or GRE scores for admission, we encourage applicants who have taken these tests to submit their scores.
