A CURRICULUM THAT
FOCUSES ON BUSINESS WITHIN THE GLOBAL CONTEXT

Conducting business globally is not just about working across borders. It is about working across sectors, disciplines, and issues. Business decisions can’t be made in a vacuum; real international expertise demands deep contextual intelligence. It is this key factor that will help you stand out in a business organization with international reach.

Our global MBA curriculum develops your core business competencies—finance, strategy, leadership—and builds on that foundation with an understanding of the international factors that affect the business of any domestic or international organization, including geopolitics, global security, supply chains, economic policy, emerging market dynamics, and law and regulations.

Program Overview

The GBA offers both part-time (24 months) and full-time (16 months) options. You will begin the program with two business core courses—Corporate Finance in Global Capital Markets and International Strategy and Innovation—and then complete elective courses in the following areas:

  • Business Foundations
  • Global Context
  • International Law
  • Analytical Tools

Immersions

The GBA program includes two in-person immersions: one on Tufts University’s scenic hilltop campus in Boston and the other in an international location selected for each cohort. The on-campus immersion serves as a kickoff to the required capstone, a real-life “lab” project that allows you to build a team, tackle a problem, and manage a complex project. The international immersion offers you the opportunity to witness the complexities of international business firsthand, while building connections with your cohort and getting to know The Fletcher School network.

Business education has not yet caught up with reality. Businesses need to be increasingly comfortable with the idea that the biggest opportunities and traps extend across borders; data, money, sustainable development, and political risks are all global phenomena. To capture these opportunities, managers must be nimble at jumping not only across geographic borders but also across the border between business and international affairs.
