Elisa Alvarez-Garrido

Elisa Alvarez-Garrido is a researcher in international entrepreneurship and innovation, and faculty at the Sonoco International Business Department at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Her research explores how investors contribute to startup innovation, and how the institutions in the startup country, the characteristics of the investors, and the technology of the startup, moderate such effect. Her work has been published in the Strategic Management Journal and in the Nature Biotechnology Journal, and has been the recipient of several international awards.

Alvarez-Garrido received her Ph.D. in management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She is in the editorial boards of Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Global Strategy Journal, as well as in the Executive Committee at the Strategy Management Division, at the Academy of Management.
